The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Trade Union Congress (TUC) and all its affiliate unions have started a warning strike today Thursday 27th September, 2018. This is due to the inconclusive agreement meeting held with the Labour minister.
The Congress is demanding a new minimum wage of #56,000 from the current national minimum wage of #18,000 for workers.

The Labour minister Chris Ngige addressed journalists after the meeting with Nigeria labour leaders that the tripartite committee on national minimum wage would resume negotiations on Thursday 4th October, 2018, exactly a week.
The Labour Congress president Comrade (Dr) Ayuba Wabba has said:
“All public and private institutions, offices, banks, schools, public and private business premises, including filling station, are to remain shut till further notice,”
