JUNE 12, NOW DEMOCRACY DAY

Victory at last for Chief M.K.O Abiola, though he is dead (over 20 years ago). The President Muhammadu Buhari administration has dimmed it fit to honour the presidential election winner of 1993. The then election which was referred as the best transparent election was conducted by Prof. Henry Nwosu. However, the election was hijacked by the military guys, led by Badamosi Babangida.
President Buhari has decided to announce 12TH OF JUNE as the new democracy day for Nigerians from the usual 29TH OF MAY as announced during President Olusegun Obasanjo regime. This is to honour the late Chief M.K.O Abiola and he is also given the national award of GCFR.
The “JUNE 12” as preferred call, has ever been a remembered day among the western people of Nigerians, and they recognize it as a special to them. Some will even place leaf on their vehicles, and in Osun state with the present regime of Governor Aregbesola, JUNE 12 is celebrated as democracy day.
